First Make 10 Runs for 100 Times in Your Galli Cricket & then Puke !!!

            556th BLOG POST -->>

A player who almost stood 80% of times when the Indian cricket team has been in trouble was being questioned on his credibility of being the best batsman ever. He never tried to prove himself. He always said that I play because I am enjoying Cricket. He never boasted about any record he made. But still people say that he plays for record. Do you feel that a player who plays for record would have been in team for 22 years without any objection of anyone and without any ego-clashes in the team? Sachin Tendulkar kept making Centuries at regular intervals throughout his life. Then, there has been such moments too when Sachin scored continuous centuries but people won't remember all that efforts. Now, after scoring his 99th International Century in World Cup tournament last year, he almost went into nervousness and mental pressure when he saw that media has played its part in making people get pious for his 100th International Century. And this pressure dominated him. It resulted in a tremendous lack of play in Tendulkar's body language and he took almost 35 innings to score that last 100th Century for which his critics were waiting to call him a Full-fleshed Best Cricketer. And they say that Sachin plays for record. Is he playing for record or you're forcing him to play for record? And then you say that Dravid doesn't play for records. How? Do you know what Sachin and Dravid think in their mind and feel in their heart when they are on crease? Every one is human and every one thinks about themselves before the team in which they are working with. Even you are in college, job or business, don't you think about yourself before the team? So, what if Tendulkar may think in the same way? Kyon jalti hai be?

First, they were crying for 100th 100 just because the man was in pressure and he was unable to do so in last 370 days. Finally, when he did it, they say that its against a lame Bangladesh team. Why were you enjoying Sehwag's 219 then? Even that was against West Indies. And then, India lost the match and you started saying that "Whenever Sachin scores a Century, India loses". Aren't this same with your father? "Every time he fucks, he gives birth to a loser" Go, my dear boy, please go and check the stats, I hope your half-matured brain will understand the differences between the numbers of matches India won and lost in the matches when Sachin scored a ton. Then you have one more point that- Sachin played very slowly and he took lots of ball to score 114 runs. Didn't he scored 200* in the same number of balls in which he has scored these 114 runs? So what if in one match he took little more balls to score a ton for which you kept judging and humiliating him from last 370 days? And did it affect the team's total? They still managed to score 289. Is that a small total? Your bowlers fucked the whole match and you blame that "100th 100" and the man who scored it for the loss. Do you even know what Cricket is?

And if India loses the matches in which Sachin Tendulkar scores, then I think we have won England Series and Australia Series with a big margin, right? But is it so? Now, don't hide your fucked face. Ok? Sachin didn't score anything worthy in any of the matches but still we got fucked as best as we could have. So don't blame his centuries for the loss. Dravid scored 3 tons in England, and I think we have lost all the matches in England, so why don't you club Dravid in the same categorization? Because you won't coz that man has never got recognition as Sachin got. And why did Sachin got? There would be some reasons behind it. Right? So, first analyze everything nicely. And now, as Bangladesh has won the match against us, won't you say that Sachin has scored a ton against a challenging team? And yes, Bangladesh was the same team because of which we were hurled out of World Cup in 2007? Still, you call it a weakling? I am happy that we lost this one as you may hesitate in future while saying that Sachin scored his 100th 100 against a weak and poor team.

We all demanded that 100th 100. Right? Did we applied any Terms and Conditions to it? No. Then, once it is made, why do you point out at the number of balls he took, the team against which he accomplished it, your perception on his attitude of creating records rather than playing for team, the loss of the team even after scoring and other bullshits? Can't you make the person feel good and happy about what he has done? Haven't he done something which has not been done before? Haven't he done something which a batsman can't even think at the starting point of his career? So, let's celebrate the awesomeness one of our Indian has created. Sachin's attitude towards life is incredible. He has always tried to give his 100% whenever he was on the field. He has always maintained his cool even when he was asked the most controversial questions. He has walked out of the ground whenever he knew that he was Out. He has always done everything which made us, Indians feel proud. He is the only man in our country on whom the most number of debates are being done, arguments take places, reporters slog to make news on, bloggers tries to research and write on and media dies to make half an hour program on to show it for the whole day. So, let's respect this man for one more pride which he has bought in the name of our country.

Congratulations Sachin Tendulkar. And I apologize for all the bad words and insulting words I have used for you when you were being tested by God for last 370 days. I should have supported you rather than ignoring your masterpieces you have played in last 22 years. Love you Sir.

   Thanks.

You should have included following stats..
Out of 49 centuries in ODI... 30 of them are match winning knocks... and one has No result match,....
& in Test matches out of 51 centuries, 20 are match winning knocks and 20 are draws
This shows his greatness as a player... I think it's high time people like Vinod Kambli and Kapil Dev should retire from criticizing.. I saw the comments of these guys .. They were praising him and just a matche back they wanted him to retire... if we recall he scored thrice in 70 in Australian tour but he was unlucky to convert them into a century. He has been playing good, it's just that he hasn't been able to convert those knocks into century and thanks to the media, which has only fuc##g business of criticizing and pressurizing people has stressed Sachin to a great extent... People like Ian Chappel and greg Chappel criticize him and he silently slaps them by scoring fabulous knocks.. If we consider him God of Cricket, then no matter what situation, we must be on his side not against him. We must be proud that we have the player in our country who is born one in the millennium.. I doubt, there will ever be any Sachin Tendulkar.. Sorry for the long comment but I am Criket fanatic and Die hard Sachin Fan...And this post was awesomazing... Really incited me to write this.. Hats off buddy for writing this nice piece..

Why do these so called critics crave? Because they know he is god.
It's high time when every one should stop thinking about him and let him do what he does best- playing cricket.
Let's enjoy whatever more we could see of him. I'm accumulating stories of SRT that I'm going to tell to first my children and then my grand children.
It's impossible for me to imagine cricket without him.
Thanks Sachin for entertaining me through every phase of my life..

Sach is life!

Nice article Abhilash. Indeed, we all doubted him, but he proved himself. A true hero!

I couldn't believe the people who say that India lost because of Sachin's 100. What can Sachin do if Pathan and Praveen bowled so many poor bowls in the most important overs. Because of him, India got such a team total. People are saying that this proves he is not a match winner! Unbelievable! Also, I agree with you that we wanted 100th 100. We didn't tell him to score it against a certain team. Good article :).

"...was being questioned on his credibility of being the best batsman ever."

Donald G. Bradman remains the best batsman ever. So, in that sense, I guess Sachin's credibility is still in question, and will always be, despite the hundred.

So, the debate is actually more nuanced than the 'when sachin scores a hundred, we lose/ he plays for himself' generalization.

Look, to analyze a player’s impact in any team sport, stats are the only thing you could fall back on, but of course, you could use the following approach for the analysis:-

1) Absolute Comparison- Batting Averages, Economy rates, Goals per game, Assists per game, Tackles won per game, etc., etc.- the stat selected should be appropriate for role of the player being analyzed
2) Relative Comparison- There may be two further sub-types in this: a) Relative to other players and b) Relative to the team’s success
a) Peer to peer comparison (and so you compare bowlers to bowlers, batsmen to batsmen, defenders to defenders, midfielders to midfielders, etc.)- technically, this could be across eras as well as within the era. But more important is the comparison between peers of the SAME era, so as to counter variations like covered/uncovered pitches, helmets/no helmets etc.
b) Influence over tournaments and seasons (in football, the importance of a ‘season’ would be a league championship and in cricket/hockey, a ‘season’ would be important in terms of team ranking)

The above approach is one commonly used. There could be another. The point remains that for discourse, it would be necessary to have some reference point. An altogether emotive hypothesis would make any discussion futile and the argument would be nothing less of a dogma.

Another point to consider is that players, like films, often are critically reappraised after some time. So, the present accolades and hysteria might not age well.

My problems in hailing him the 'best ever' are two-fold:

a) his failures in test cricket when needed the most- take 4th innings averages, lack of match saving innings, instances like Bermuda ('97), the two test series defeat in New Zealand, W.I. ('02), Calcutta ('99), Chennai ('99), - yes he got 136 there but he couldn't see it through, unlike Dravid/Laxman in 2001 Eden Gardens, then again vs. Pakistan third home test last innings ('04). He couldn't bat out last day of a test in quite a few recent tests which would've saved the match for us. Look, this is where his 'large numbers' actually go against him, simply by being large numbers, so this is not a case of nitpicking but a case of being cumulatively underwhelmed. As in you can't now say that he hasn't got enough opportunities to set the record straight. Had he done so, no doubts would've remained and we would not have been having this discussion from so many quarters.

b) The most widely used stat for judging batting prowess is the batting average. His career averages is very good, but not exceptional. Even presently, there are three batsmen with a higher test average than his so he doesn't outdo his peers enough to be called the 'best ever'. If you go back in eras, you would have at least 10 more batsmen with more relative prowess (domination over peers, contribution to success) or absolute prowess (better averages) than Tendulkar.

I would agree that he is the greatest batsman to have played Limited Overs International cricket. But when it comes to Test cricket (and therefore in overall terms), he is a very good player who will be known for his longevity and ambition. But he's not the game's greatest. He's not the best ever. He's not God.
