OMG! Oh My God!- A film for every Devotee and Atheist!!!

702nd BLOG POST -->>

             I'm not a movie buff but I surely go to a theater near to my house when I hear that a movie has almost all the content that can make those 2.5-3 hours of my life a great experience. I don't care then if the actor of the movie is Aamir Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Irfan Khan or even Rajpal Yadav. Even if Kamaal R Khan will deliver something that'll make those hours of my life an experience, I'll go to watch the movie. I'm claiming this with utter confidence because I know that that c...... is never going to make anything sensible or in that case, he is ever going to make anything. His Deshdrohi is epic in itself. :-) Yesterday, I watched OMG! Oh My God! starring Paresh Rawal and Akshay Kumar. The film is set on Kanji Bhai(Paresh Rawal), an antique shopkeeper`s life. Kanji Bhai begins to loose faith in God when a a slight tremor destroys only his shop in the entire city. The film revolves around his simple lifestyle and his refusal to accept God`s existence.

             I would say- A film consisting of such a plot should have been released some 10-15 years ago. It took time for the directors/writers of our industry to release a film of such a realistic content. It's always in our mind whether God exists or not. And if he exists, why doesn't he prove himself. And how is he involved with the Earthly matter. What is his role in our lives and our success/failure. The writers of the movie has answered almost all the questions straightaway. They have been brutally honest while writing each and every scene/dialogue of the movie. It's too provoking at times but a God residing within us makes us believe that whatever is being spoken is true. One has to be judgmental over God over few things. And the role of God is perfectly showcased in the second half. Bhavesh Mandalia and Umesh Shukla- An amazing work as writers.

            Secondly, this story would not have looked so real and preaching if it would not have been directed properly. Every sequence, screen play of the movie is played in front of our eyes in a manner that our heart is always curious to know what's next. Will God be able to prove himself or will he lose against Kanji Mehta. Kanji Mehta though talks negative but still half of our heart supports him while the another half cheers for God. Watching OMG was kind of watching a game where both your favorite teams are playing and you don't want any of them to lose. Umesh Shukla, great work as Director and Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, Ashvini Yardi, thanks for trusting this hardcore script and producing the movie. We would not have been able to wait for a movie that we wanted to see for a decade more. :-)

            Coming to the star cast, Paresh Rawal has done one of the most promising roles of his career. The kind of life that he has given to the role of Kanji Mehta is beyond words. During the movie, it was hard to believe that I'm watching the same Paresh Rawal whom I have watched since a decade. There could have been no other perfect Kanji Mehta for the role. Akshay Kumar should be applauded for agreeing to do a Supporting role besides Paresh Rawal. It needs gut to play Supporting actor when one is being known as Superstar in the industry. Secondly, playing the role of God is always challenging. It's always controversial and doubtful whether audience will accept or not. Amitabh Bachchan played God in God Tussi Great Ho and was highly criticized. Mithun Chakraborty is another person whom I'll remember every time the movie's name will be heard. :-) Other actors have also contributed equally good- Nikhil Ratnaparkhi, Lubna Salim, Poonam Jhawer, Govind Namdeo, Mahesh Manjrekar, Nidhi Subbaiah, Murli Sharma, Om Puri, Tisca Chopra, Arun Bali etc.

             The first reporting at court gives a push to the movie that places it at a very high level with lots of expectations. The protest of people and anger of family after Kanji files a case against God is perfectly described. That is how it happens. The first interaction of Kanji bhai with media is again another thought-provoking and entertaining piece. The sequences that are being shown while "Mere Nishaan" song was being played is something that makes us think on our praying style. The way business is being carried out on the name of God is something without which the movie would have been incomplete. How devotees waste milk, bed-sheet etc on the name of offerings is also revolted which open the eyes. The climax when God asks Kanji bhai to throw what God always carried with him to follow what he made others to follow is something that bought a smile on my face with few tears in eyes. There are many more messages that is given through this wonderful movie. Even I'm thoughtful if I should visit Sai Temple from next Thursday. :-) This is what the movie does. One needs guts to make a movie that questions something which can provoke people to get violent. Yes! Do watch it- Not Alone but with everyone whom you want to have happy and peaceful life around you. I'll highly recommend. Film has already earned 55 crores. :-)

  Thanks.
