Gandhi! An Icon who is still reviewed!!!

950th BLOG POST -->>

            We are celebrating Gandhi Jayanti- a day kept as a respect and tribute on the birthday of one of the most iconic leaders of India- Mahatma Gandhi whose real name is Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. Every time, we take his name, Lage Raho Munnabhai movie comes in to our mind. That movie has shown the bestial features of the Gandhi's approach towards the society and basically, enemies. Dealing with enemies and people you hate is the only thing that defines a human being- as to how good he is. If he reacts aggressively that means he is not a great being and he is as common and negative as the majority. But dealing the same with silence, peace and synthetic talks is need of the hour. But with time, people are forgetting Gandhian approach. Everyone has trust that their philosophy will give them the peace and success that they always dream of but we should understand that at the time of learning, we shouldn't act as an Icon but as a Learner willing to learn even from a 4 years old kid who is trying to say something.

           I have read a lot about M. Gandhi since my childhood because I was always fascinated by the fact that he is on the currency notes of India which according to me is a wonderful success and achievement. There were so many people who fought for India but Gandhiji got the most credit because of the way he chose to go towards the target. Many people believe that he played more spoilsports than doing good for country. But if this could have been spoken by some person who is already into the development of the country, I would have heard it from him with reasons and justifications. And I would have agreed to more than 100% of what he would have enlightened me with the facts. But agreeing to what criticism the people on Twitter and Facebook is making for showing that how elite and different they are from the mob is like hitting my head with a cylinder. I feel like beating everyone who is speaking against him on Social N/w sites but it would do Gandhiji wrong as he dislikes non-violence as your tool to win the fight. But I believe in the man and I wish that all of our leaders should be like him, Nehruji etc. :-)

           While reading about various facets of Gandhiji today on Internet, I found something which made me fall in love with it. And fortunately, I knew most of them already and I also follow them. Let me share them with you. Gandhiji gave 11 vows to everyone:
1. Ahimsa (Non Violence)
2. Satya (Truth)
3. Asteya(Non Stealing)
4. Brahmacharya (Celibacy) ...
5.Aparigraha (Non-Possession)
6. Sharirshrama (Labor) 7.Aswada(Control of the Palate)
8.Sarvatra Bhayavarjana (Fearlessness)....
9.Sarva Dharma Samantva(Equality of Religions)
10.Swadeshi (Use Locally Made Goods)
11.Sparshbhavana(Remove Untouchability) Gandhiji's vows.

               Well, I don't think I need to talk anymore on these vows that he gave us. But I will really suggest all of you to read at least two books by Gandhiji- "My Experiments with Truth" and his version of Bhagavad Geeta. Let people accuse him for his political decisions but then, which politician is perfect or even close to it these days? At least he has said some beautiful quotes and given us wonderful knowledge that can bring change in us. I wish to acquire good qualities of Gandhiji and possess good virtues that his writings and sayings depict. A very Happy Gandhi Jayanti to all my Indian friends who believe that everyone who fought for our nation played some role. Also remembering Lal Bahadur Sastri today who also shares his birthday with Gandhiji. Thanks for uniting us through festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi. You have really given heaven to Maharashtra by introducing this. :-)

 Thanks a lot.
