Review: Sultan: Unmissable, Powerful, Emotional!!! ****

1441st BLOG POST -->>

SULTAN: 4/5

     Once upon a time, I used to come back watching Salman Khan movie with lots of words to put in my Blog representing the anger, frustration and heart-broken feeling. Ready, Kick, Dabangg 2, Bodyguard, Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo to name few of them. Last July, on Eid, Salman Khan won my heart with Bajrangi Bhaijaan and he repeated himself successfully again this July, with SULTAN. I am feeling so powerful after watching this movie which in itself speaks about the affect that movie leaves on the audience. Bollywood has this bad habit of mixing melodrama in each and every movie but I am glad that they didn't do any serious damage to Sultan. Yes, definitely, there are few scenes when you know that the movie has gone out of reality zone but for almost most of the time, it stays true to the character of the movie and the background in which it has been set.

            This time, just like Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Salman Khan is not that super-hero who will contradict the laws of physics and chemistry to make his fans feel great about their choice. He is just like you and me who is living a normal life and enjoying it with his friends. But falling in love with an ambitious girl- Anushka Sharma and later on getting insulted by her for having no "aukaat" makes him serious in life which leads in the emergence of the WRESTLER SULTAN. He prepares himself in no time and starts winning matches. But with it comes success and unfortunately, arrogance, which destroys him. Life gives him another opportunity to win back everything he have lost and that's what the movie- SULTAN is all about.

           The 1st half is wonderful where almost all the characters are introduced. Though the Haryanwi accent isn't very well picked up by the lead characters but it's fine as it would have become difficult for us to understand what exactly the actor have said. The entry of Sultan is nicely pictured. Even I screamed like an idiot fan. Haha! The scenes of akhada and local wrestling is also choreographed excellently. The background music and songs in between play their part to make the movie look more beautiful. The 2nd half is not as good as first because of it being quite depressing and sad story for most of the times but it surely holds emotion in it; which works for the movie. One moment when Salman Khan leaves the ring in the 2nd round itself after knocking a player is such a wonderful scene that I couldn't stop screaming and whistling.

           The performances are terrific. Salman Khan have managed to get into the character very well and in all the scenes whenever he is trying to be powerful or expressing helplessness because of weakening of his body or being depressed because of losing his family comes across exactly as he wants to. 75% of Ali Abbas Zafar's job gets accomplished here itself. Anushka Sharma have ended up giving one of her best performances. She has played such a strong character with so much elegance that whenever she is on screen, you forget even Salman Khan. Rest, all the supporting actors- Kumud Mishra, Amit Sadh, Anant Sharma and Randeep Hooda are as excellent as these two. All the songs in the movie are nicely choreographed. The dialogues are also fine but they could have been better for sure. Over all, this is a movie which shouldn't be missed this festive season and I give it 4 stars out of 5.

 Thanks.
